BIOGRAPHY
Finlay Johnston is an Edinburgh based composer and multi-instrumentalist. With multiple years of performance experience across a wide variety of styles; playing with an orchestra to a sold out Royal Glasgow Concert Hall, and performing as part of the band for numerous musicals in theatres such as the Kings Theatre (Edinburgh) and the Carnegie Hall (Dunfermline), it’s fair to say he truly is a diverse musician. Finlay has also played in countless local venues and festivals across the country, excelling in performance, stamina and skill. He continues to amaze his ever growing fan base.
Finlay attended The City of Edinburgh Music School, allowing him to grow technically as an instrumentalist & composer whilst playing along side many other talented young musicians. This led him to study Composition on the Popular Music course at Edinburgh Napier University.
For his degree portfolio, Finlay has composed a selection of pieces in the style of musical theatre, combining elements of his own influences to create an interesting new sound that still easily corresponds to the West End’s aesthetic. Finlay hopes to continue this project, focussing on his professional music career.
